Why Great Visuals Are Essential In Marketing Campaigns

As they say, a picture paints a thousand words and when it comes to grabbing attention you need imagery that makes an impact. The use of effective visuals in marketing will get your point across quickly and help boost reader engagement.

It’s no secret that as technology has become more prominent in our day-to-day lives, our attention spans are shorter than ever. We react to visuals within 50 milliseconds, and so grabbing our attention can be a tricky feat. 70% of our sensory receptors are in our eyes and visuals help us retain more information and process imagery more than 60,000 times faster than text. You activate more of your brain (50% in fact) to process visuals, so visualisation in marketing is key!

Facebook posts with images receive 2.3 times more engagement than those without so creating the perfect image is essential; logo placement, colour balance and the image used all play a vital role in a customer’s desire to engage and retain information.

80% of marketers use visual assets in their social media with video becoming more and more popular and the medium of choice for high-engagement, high-impact ad campaigns (over 63% of marketers now use video)

Here are some tips to help get you started.

Brand Your Social Media Presence – ensure your branding is clear, strong and consistent. You want to ensure people recognise your brand within milliseconds. This can be done by including your company logo, utilising some of your business brand colours, using a specific font/typeface that recognisable as your brand

Quality over Quantity – Ensure the images you use are good quality. Make images your own where you can or add simply add some branding to stock images to stand out. If possible, take your own photos using a smart-phone, not every image you put out needs to be highly polished and highly produced. You’ll be surprised with the effect you can get from your iPhone!

Create Videos – Videos is one of the most important aspects of content marketing. You are almost certain to boost your engagement by consistently posting video content. Remember to keep them short and concise we recommend no more than 30 seconds.

Visualise Data – Effective data visualisation is very engaging. Take any data that’s complicated, break it down for your customers and make it easy to digest and visually pleasing. This will help get your customers to engage with mundane statistics. No doubt you will have at one point in the last few years read through an engaging infographic that has turned what would normally be a very mundane set of stats into visually engaging content!
